C-Trap® installed at Ludwig Maximilian University

LUMICKS recently installed a new C-Trap® system in the lab of Dr. Johannes Stigler at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany.

Dr. Stigler and his group will use the C-Trap® to study the structure and organization of chromosomes. Their goal is to determine the processes leading to the three-dimensional folding of chromosomes, which have shown to play an important role in gene regulation, by measuring the mechanical properties of chromosomal crosslinking proteins and the protein-protein and DNA-protein interactions involved in the folding mechanism. The C-Trap® will enable them to investigate chromosomal crosslinking proteins in real-time with high bandwidth and force resolution and observe sub-nanometer changes in length that are expected from intra-protein conformational changes for timescales of tens of minutes up to hours. We wish Dr. Stigler and his team success with their research and hope that the C-Trap® will contribute to achieving their goal!
