LUMICKS is happy to announce the installation of an AFS™ Stand-alone system at Johns Hopkins University. JHU is now the home of both a C-Trap® and AFS! The labs of Professor Taekjip Ha and Assistant Professor Christian Kaiser will share the instrument.
Prof. Ha’s group studies complex biological mechanisms, by pushing the limits of single-molecule detection methods. They will use the AFS™, next to their in-house developed biophysical techniques, to investigate various protein-DNA and protein-protein complexes. The group of Dr. Kaiser aims to understand how cells make functional proteins. For this purpose, the AFS™ will be employed for the high-throughput investigation of the mechanical properties of protein (un)folding and the molecular mechanisms involved in protein biogenesis. We wish both labs all the best of luck with the AFS™ and their research!
